"คนอินดี้" (indy people)
หมายถึง คนที่เป็นอิสระและมีเอกลักษณ์
ส่วนตัว ไม่ยึดติดกับกระแสหลัก
หรือสิ่งที่สังคมกำหนดไว้. คำว่า "อินดี้"
มาจากคำภาษาอังกฤษ "independent"
ที่แปลว่าอิสระ คนอินดี้มักจะแสดงออก
ถึงความเป็นตัวของตัวเอง ผ่านการแต่งตัว
การใช้ชีวิต หรือการแสดงความคิดเห็น
ข้อสังเกตว่าใครเป็นบุคคลอินดี้
บุคคลอินดี้ จะมีความแตกต่าง
ของพัฒนาการด้านสังคม เวลาพูดคุย
จะไม่มองหน้าสบตา ไม่ค่อยสนใจใคร
เรียกก็ไม่หัน เล่นกับบุคคลอื่นไม่ค่อยเป็น
และไม่รู้กาลเทศะของไทย
แสดงออกไม่เหมาะสมบ่อย ๆ
ร่วมกับมีความสนใจซ้ำ ๆ จำกัดเฉพาะเรื่อง
เช่น ถ้าเขามีความสนใจอะไรก็จะสนใจมาก ๆ
ถึงขั้นที่เรียกว่าหมกมุ่นก็ว่าได้
และเรื่องที่เขาสนใจก็อาจจะเป็นเรื่อง
ที่คนอื่นไม่สนใจ เช่น ตนอินดี้บางคนจะชอบ
ดูโลโก้สินค้า เห็นที่ไหนก็จะดู จะถาม
และจำได้แม่นยำ บางคนชอบดูยี่ห้อ
ของพัดลมว่ายี่ห้ออะไร เวลาไปเห็นพัดลม

ปกติเวลาที่พบเจอกันก็จะมีการทักทายกัน
มีการพูดคุยเล็ก ๆ น้อย ๆ ก่อนจะเข้าเรื่อง
แต่สำหรับคนอินดี้ พอเจอกันปุ๊บ
อยากถามอะไร อยากรู้อะไร
ก็จะพูดโพล่งออกมา ไม่มีการทักทาย
ไม่มีการเกริ่นนำ จะถามเรื่องที่สนใจ
โดยไม่เสียเวลา การพูดจาหรือการทำอะไร
บางอย่างที่ไม่เหมาะสมกับสังคมไทย
เช่น เวลาเขาเห็นอะไรหรือรู้สึกอะไร
อยากได้อะไร เขาก็จะบอกตรง ๆ
ซึ่งบางสถานการณ์อาจจะไม่เหมาะสม
อาจจะทำให้คนอื่นเกิดความไม่พอใจ
เช่น มีเด็กคนหนึ่งอยู่โรงเรียน
เขาเห็นแม่คนหนึ่งกำลังดุลูก
เขาก็จะเข้าไปบอกทันที
ว่า "ไม่ควรดุลูกนะครับ คุณแม่ควรพูดจา
ไพเราะกับลูก" ก็อาจจะทำให้คนอื่นรู้สึก
ไม่พอใจได้ หรือกินข้าวร้านนี้แล้ว
มันไม่อร่อย เวลาเดินผ่านทีไรก็จะพูดดัง ๆ
ขึ้นมาตรงนั้นเลยว่า "ข้าวร้านนี้ไม่อร่อย"
ซึ่งถามว่าสิ่งที่เขาทำถูกต้องหรือเปล่า
ก็ถูกในแง่มุมของความรู้สึกของคนอินดี้
แต่ไม่เหมาะสมในแง่มุมความรู้สึก
ของคนอื่น สิ่งเหล่านี้คือสิ่งที่ทำให้เกิด
ปัญหาตามมา ปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นกับคนอินดี้
คือคนรอบข้างไม่เข้าใจ ตรงนี้ถือว่า
เป็นปัญหาใหญ่ของคุณพ่อคุณแม่ด้วย
เพราะมักจะถูกตำหนิ คนอื่นจะมอง
ว่าพ่อแม่ไม่สั่งสอน ไม่บอก
ทำให้ไม่รู้กาลเทศะ ทั้งที่พ่อแม่ส่วนใหญ่
ก็พยายามสอนเต็มที่แล้ว แต่ปัญหาอยู่
ที่ตัวคนอินดี้เอง ซึ่งจะไม่มีผู้ใดแก้ปัญหานี้ได้
เพราะ ส่วนใหญ่เกิดพฤติกรรมเรียนแบบ
