What is the Faded Photograph?

The Faded Photograph is a common trinket in Arc Raiders. The in-game description tells you it's "a snapshot of the world before, faded by sunlight and time." In practice, it's purely a cosmetic collectible—it doesn't improve your combat stats, weapons, or crafting options.

You'll mainly find it when scavenging Residential areas. It weighs very little (0.3 units) and stacks up to 15 per inventory slot, which makes it easy to carry around without taking up much space.

How much is it worth in the game?

If you check the in-game sell price, the Faded Photograph goes for 640 coins. That's not a huge amount, but it's also not negligible if you're trying to accumulate resources for upgrades.

In practice, the decision to sell or keep it often comes down to how much value you place on your Raider Den display versus the immediate benefit of coins. Unlike rare or legendary trinkets, this one doesn't have special effects or bonuses, so its main value is aesthetic or collectible.

Why some players keep it

Decoration for your Raider Den
Even common trinkets like the Faded Photograph can be placed in your den. If you enjoy customizing your space, a few of these photos can make your den feel lived-in or tell a story about the world before the Collapse.

Completing collections
Some players like to complete full sets of trinkets. Even common items matter if you're aiming for a "completed display" achievement or simply enjoy the satisfaction of collecting everything.

Trading potential
While you can't sell it for a lot, some players may trade common trinkets to help friends complete collections. This is rare, but it happens in communities where collecting is a focus.

Why some players sell it

Selling the Faded Photograph is straightforward. At 640 coins per piece, it's an easy way to convert inventory clutter into cash.

Practical gameplay often favors selling common trinkets for the following reasons:

Inventory management: Even though it stacks well, keeping too many common items can get messy if you're collecting rarer trinkets.

Early-game coins: For new players, 640 coins can be a meaningful boost toward upgrading weapons, armor, or other gear.

No functional value: Unlike weapons, armor mods, or resources, it doesn't affect gameplay performance.

Some players also explore the option to sell Arc Raiders items for cash outside the game, although that involves real-world transactions and comes with risks. For most players, simply selling it in-game is the easiest way to get value from it.

How it works in practice

From my experience, here's how most players handle Faded Photographs:

Early levels: Sell almost all of them for coins. You need currency for weapon upgrades, and the trinket itself isn't useful for progression.

Mid to late levels: Keep a small number if you like decorating your Raider Den. By this stage, coins are easier to earn through missions, so the incentive to sell every single one drops.

Collectors: Some players will hold onto multiples to complete their visual collections, but this is a niche playstyle.

A practical tip: don't hoard more than you can reasonably display in your den. Having 20+ of a common item doesn't add anything functionally, and it may clutter your inventory.

Balancing the decision

Think about your priorities in the game:

If your main goal is progression and upgrading gear, sell the Faded Photograph whenever you find it. The coins are usually more valuable than keeping the trinket.

If your main goal is collecting and decorating, hold onto a few to display in your Raider Den. You don't need the full stack, just enough to make your den feel personal.

Inventory space is rarely a problem with this item, so the decision can be flexible. Most experienced players sell the bulk and keep a handful for decoration.

The Faded Photograph is a common, low-value trinket that offers no gameplay advantage. For most players, it's better to sell it, especially early on, to fund upgrades and keep inventory clean. A small number can be kept for display or collection purposes, but there's little practical benefit beyond aesthetics.

If you're someone who enjoys completing collections or decorating your den, keep a few. If you're focused on resource management and upgrading, selling them is usually the smarter choice. Either way, it's an easy decision once you weigh aesthetics versus practical coin gain.
